Lincoln Displays Navigator Concept at LA Auto Show

At Randall Reed’s Planet Lincoln in Spring, we love seeing the latest innovation for our luxury auto maker and so will auto enthusiasts.  The Lincoln Navigator concept is being revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nov. 18-27. Makes one wonder what’s next for Lincoln’s best-known vehicle – a full-size SUV..

The design concepts are always intriguing, but what could really be rolled out in the years to come. This years reveal had a design team that was inspired by luxury yachts and sailboats. This influence can be seen in everything from the vehicle’s clean, modern lines and Storm Blue exterior, to teak finishes and exquisite detailing throughout.

“Lincoln Navigator concept reinforces our commitment to give every Lincoln client what we call quiet luxury – vehicles and experiences that are elegant and effortlessly powerful,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. “Quiet luxury is what sets Lincoln apart. We’re showing fans of large SUVs how we can exceed their expectations, without being the loudest statement on the road.”

Lincoln’s most spacious interior yet – a key purchase consideration among buyers of large SUVs – is delivered with outstanding refinement in the Navigator concept. A custom wardrobe management system at the rear offers spacious organization for the savvy traveler. Six Lincoln-patented Perfect Position Seats adjust 30 ways to best support various body types. The driver’s seat includes independent deployable thigh support for maximum comfort.

Monitors on the back head restraints offer passengers Wi-Fi connectivity – allowing them to wirelessly share music and content from personal devices. In addition, Lincoln’s Revel® audio system is specially tuned for superior sound quality throughout.

The concept vehicle is equipped with several drive modes designed to improve ride and handling and allow drivers to find the experience that best suits their given terrain. Drive modes affect steering, suspension and noise levels.

A 360-degree camera and enhanced park assist features take the stress out of parallel and perpendicular parking. The system seamlessly integrates views from four cameras – creating an overhead image that allows drivers to see all around the vehicle.

Navigator concept’s Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses radar and camera technology to scan the road ahead. If a collision risk with a vehicle or pedestrian is detected, the system provides a warning to the driver. If the driver doesn’t respond, it can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of – even eliminate – some frontal collisions. A lane-keeping system vibrates the steering wheel to alert drivers straying from their lane, providing mild input to encourage them back toward the center.

Lincoln Navigator concept is accessed through distinctive power gullwing doors and deployable concertina steps. A special lighting sequence – a signature Lincoln feature – welcomes passengers for every journey.

2013 Lincoln MKX

There are some really great options in the luxury crossover SUV market, but it’s difficult deciding which one is right for you. At Randall Reed’s Planet Lincoln we strive to make that decision process easier for you. That’s why we made a comparison video of the top competitors in the luxury crossover SUV market.

We took the 2013 Lincoln MKX and put it head to head with the 2013 Lexus RX 350 and the 2013 Volvo XC90. We compared these three SUV’s based on engine performance, fuel efficiency, technology, and safety. They are all great, but only one can come can come out on top.

Watch our comparison video below…

Equipped with a 3.7L V6 engine the Lincoln MKX delivers an impressive 305 Horsepower and 280 foot-pounds of torque, beating out the Volvo and Lexus. The Lexus RX 350 touts 270 horsepower and 248 foot pounds of torque with its 3.5L V6 engine. The Volvo XC90 falls short with its 3.2L I6 engine, delivering only 240 horsepower and 236 foot-pounds of torque.

When it comes to fuel efficiency, all three models are close but the MKX beats the RX 350’s 21 Combined Miles Per Gallon and the XC 90’s 19 Combined MPG’s with it’s impressive 22 Combined Miles Per Gallon.

Once inside, the Lexus RX 350 comes standard with a power-adjustable tilt and telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, smart key entry with push-button ignition and a nine-speaker stereo system.

Edmunds praises The 2013 Lincoln MKX interior saying it boasts a well-trimmed cabin with handsome stitching, real aluminum accents and quality materials throughout.” It also comes standard with remote start, push-button ignition, and a 10-speaker audio system with MyLincoln Touch and Sync.

Standard equipment on the base XC90 includes parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers and headlight washers and an eight-speaker stereo with satellite radio, Bluetooth and a USB port.

Safety is always a primary concern.  You can feel at ease knowing all three vehicles were crash tested and rated as top safety picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

These are all great SUV’s but the Lincoln MKX truly shines in its respective categories. Now that you have the facts come see us at Planet Lincoln off I-45 in Spring, TX and take a test-drive to compare for yourself.
