Lincoln Reveals MKC Coming to Planet Lincoln

Lincoln has been garnering lots of attention today as it unveiled its new entry into the premium small crossover market. Everyone at Planet Lincoln, is very excited to see it drive onto our showroom floor. next year.

The production 2015 Lincoln MKC is set to go on sale next summer. This is the second of four new vehicles Lincoln has promised by 2016 as part of the brand’s “reinvention.” The first was the all-new MKZ, which has been a great success.

According to Jim Farley, the Ford global marketing head who also oversees Lincoln, said: “As a challenger luxury brand, entering this (market) segment is a natural next step for us. MKC will do more than just compete – it will change the way people think about Lincoln.”

The new Lincoln SUV comes with a new engine option, a 2.3-liter version of Ford’s Ecoboost turbo four-cylinder that will be rated 275 horsepower and put out a 300 lb.-ft. of torque.

“Our design team worked tirelessly to create a vehicle that attracts new customers to the brand while meeting the expectations of longtime Lincoln drivers,” Max Wolff, Lincoln design head, shared in a statement. “The execution of the new liftgate is a prime example of how a premium design element can create a better customer experience.”

MKC rear viewlargeThe new liftgate wraps around the curvy rear exterior and has an available motion-sensing, hands-free opener, which is similar to the optional feature on the Ford Escape.

Other elite features included an optional panoramic glass roof. The MKC, like the MKZ before it, will also get a toned-down and horizontal-bar version of the “split wing” Lincoln grill.2015-lincoln-mkc-interior

On the inside, Lincoln offers French stitching and available upscale leather (Bridge of Weir) and real wood trim. It also comes with the Lincoln push-button shifter, which has buttons on the left side of the center stack and frees console space.

There is an exceptional electronics lineup which includes an optional THX-certified surround sound system and you get, of course, Ford’s Sync/MyLincolnTouch voice-activated and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment and control system

MKC also has a system that senses when you approach the car and turns on door handle and puddle lights as well as the head and tail lights.

MKC drivers can also access smartphone integration which includes an app — MyLincolnMobile — that lets you start, lock, unlock and locate your MKC. It also can be used to call for help, check fluid and pressure levels and program an engine start time to warm or cool the MKC.

The Lincoln MKC will come standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo 4 that is said to produce 240-hp. and 270 lb.-ft. of torque and front-drive is standard.

The optional all-wheel drive has smart damping, which anticipates the road surface, and offers sport, comfort and normal drive mode settings. The “continuously controlled damping” system is an option in the front-drive models.

The MKC has available automated safety systems that are to include a collision mitigation system with automatic braking, a lane-keeper warning system, blind-spot alert (BLIS) and rear cross-traffic detection. Parallel parking assist is also available.

Planet Lincoln Launches Lincoln Literacy Corner Aug. 17th

Engine Performance

The Lincoln MKZ has two available engines including the 3.7L V-6 engine producing 300 Horsepower and 278 foot-pounds of torque.The Lexus ES-350, comes in second, with 268 horsepower and 248 foot-pounds of torque. Coming in last place was the Cadillac ATS with 202 horsepower and 190 foot-pounds of torque.

Interior Features

The MKZ has more front leg, shoulder, and hip room than both of its competitors. U.S. News & World Report says “The Cadillac ATS is a comfortable ride but has cramped second row seats.”Car reviewers also commented that  the Lexus ES-350 interior was spacious, it had fewer standard features than the 2012 model.

Technology

When you purchase a luxury vehicle you expect to get the latest and greatest technology.The MKZ has available My Lincoln Touch that allows you to stream music, audible turn-by-turn directions, change climate control, and more. U.S. News & World Report writes that the Lexus’ infotainment system Enform on the ES-350 is too clunky.The Cadillac ATS has the available Cue system, however there is no navigation available for this model.

Safety

So how do they stack up in safety?  According to the Insurance Institute The 2013 Lincoln is a TOP Safety Pick for midsize luxury vehicles. The 2013 Lexus ES-350 also made the list but not in the plus category and the Cadillac ATS wasn’t tested by the IIHS.

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ is the winner of the J.D. Power & Associates APEAL Award.

J.D. Power’s 2013 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study was released Wednesday, July 24th, 2013. Everyone at Randall Reed’s Planet Lincoln in Spring, TX (serving The Woodlands, Cypress and the Greater Houston Area) is thrilled that J.D. Power and Associates has awarded the 2013 Lincoln MKZ with the most appealing Compact Premium Car. According to the results of new owners surveyed, it beat out the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4/A5.

J.D. Powers APEAL Study, a study which measures new-vehicle appeal, is based on responses gathered between February and May 2013. Over 83,000 purchases and lessees of new 2013 model-year cars and light trucks were surveyed after the first 90 days of ownership.
