Lincoln has been garnering lots of attention today as it unveiled its new entry into the premium small crossover market. Everyone at Planet Lincoln, is very excited to see it drive onto our showroom floor. next year.
The production 2015 Lincoln MKC is set to go on sale next summer. This is the second of four new vehicles Lincoln has promised by 2016 as part of the brand’s “reinvention.” The first was the all-new MKZ, which has been a great success.
According to Jim Farley, the Ford global marketing head who also oversees Lincoln, said: “As a challenger luxury brand, entering this (market) segment is a natural next step for us. MKC will do more than just compete – it will change the way people think about Lincoln.”
The new Lincoln SUV comes with a new engine option, a 2.3-liter version of Ford’s Ecoboost turbo four-cylinder that will be rated 275 horsepower and put out a 300 lb.-ft. of torque.
“Our design team worked tirelessly to create a vehicle that attracts new customers to the brand while meeting the expectations of longtime Lincoln drivers,” Max Wolff, Lincoln design head, shared in a statement. “The execution of the new liftgate is a prime example of how a premium design element can create a better customer experience.”
On the inside, Lincoln offers French stitching and available upscale leather (Bridge of Weir) and real wood trim. It also comes with the Lincoln push-button shifter, which has buttons on the left side of the center stack and frees console space.
There is an exceptional electronics lineup which includes an optional THX-certified surround sound system and you get, of course, Ford’s Sync/MyLincolnTouch voice-activated and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment and control system
MKC also has a system that senses when you approach the car and turns on door handle and puddle lights as well as the head and tail lights.
MKC drivers can also access smartphone integration which includes an app — MyLincolnMobile — that lets you start, lock, unlock and locate your MKC. It also can be used to call for help, check fluid and pressure levels and program an engine start time to warm or cool the MKC.
The Lincoln MKC will come standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo 4 that is said to produce 240-hp. and 270 lb.-ft. of torque and front-drive is standard.
The optional all-wheel drive has smart damping, which anticipates the road surface, and offers sport, comfort and normal drive mode settings. The “continuously controlled damping” system is an option in the front-drive models.
The MKC has available automated safety systems that are to include a collision mitigation system with automatic braking, a lane-keeper warning system, blind-spot alert (BLIS) and rear cross-traffic detection. Parallel parking assist is also available.
