Lincoln at Los Angeles Auto Show Celebrates Past, Future As Brand Rolls Out Reinvention

2013 Lincoln MKZ coming to Planet Lincoln in Spring, Texas soon!

The all-new Lincoln MKZ has certainly been big buzz for Lincoln as they look forward to their future, but at the Los Angeles Auto Show, attendees will also have a chance to look back to the car company’s elegant past.

Everyone has been talking about the all-new MKZ, which is no surprise since it is the new face of Lincoln. It represents a significant milestone in the brand’s ongoing reinvention. It’s the first of four new Lincoln vehicles to be introduced in the next four years.

Looking Back at Lincoln’s Heritage
Since 1922, the year Edsel Ford signed the agreement purchasing the Lincoln Motor Company from its founder Henry Leland, the hallmark of Lincoln has been its elegant simplicity. For Edsel, the key to revitalizing Lincoln was styling. His vision for design was that every line, contour and angle should have intent. The pure sensitivity of a line is at the heart of Lincoln’s heritage – carried into the present moment of Lincoln’s reinvention with the MKZ premium midsize sedan and MKZ Hybrid.

Classics on Display
There are seven models of yesteryear on display at the auto show, including:

  • 1929 Lincoln L Dietrich Convertible Coupe. It had a base price of $6,200.
  • 1932 Lincoln KB LeBaron Convertible Roadster. The displayed LeBaron Convertible Roadster was priced at $4,600.
  • 1937 Lincoln Derham Sport Sedan.
  • 1937 Lincoln-Zephyr Coupe-Sedan.
  • 1940 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet.
  • 1956 Continental Mark II.
  • 1961 Lincoln Continental Sedan.

Lincoln’s iconic past and exciting future are juxtaposed on its new blog launching today on Tumblr, For this occasion, U.S. photographers Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck have created evocative “cinemagraphs” depicting scenes starring iconic Lincolns.

A cinemagraph is an image that contains a living cinematic moment that allows a glimpse of time to be experienced and preserved endlessly. Starting in-camera, the artists take a traditional photograph and combine a living moment into the image through the isolated animation of multiple frames.
